The Abbots Langley Festival team is working on preparations for ALF 2026 and will be contacting previous event organisers soon. If you are a member of any club, society, or community group, of any type, that operates in the Abbots Langley area please get your administrators to contact us so that we can suggest ways to add your group to what has become the showcase of activities and events in Abbots Langley.
It is a shame that the weather on Saturday proved a damper on the outdoor festival events, the St Lawrence Church Fete and the Tough Ten race sign-up session, but the festival was well and truly launched to sail away with a sold-out run of HMS Pinafore by Abbots Langley Gilbert and Sullivan Society.
There are some minor changes to the published festival programme:
(2) There will be an extra event at Abbots Langley Library –
As part of this year’s Abbots Langley Festival we are running a Creator Space session on Saturday the 29th of June. Come along and play the Banana Piano, create a stop motion video using Lego or learn some coding skills to send the Cubetto robot around a map. No booking required, just drop in between 10am and 12:30pm. All activities are free, though donations are welcome.
(3) Due to the General Election the Abbots Langley Art Group’s Come and Meet Us session on the 4th July will not be happening at Tanners Wood hall, as it will be a polling station.
The fist day of the 2024 Abbots Langley Festival is Saturday 15th of June. Ship Ahoy!
On that day there are three ALF events to choose from. You can come and meet the team that organise Abbots Langley’s well known Tough Ten race and sign up for this years event in October. From 12 noon to 3pm you could come along to St Lawrence for the annual Church Fete or at 2:30 or 7:30 be at the Henderson Hub for a performance of HMS Pinafore by the Abbots Langley Gilbert and Sullivan Society – This firm Gilbert and Sullivan favourite is coming to Abbots Langley as ALGSS return to one of their most popular shows, HMS Pinafore, fully-staged at the Henderson Hub. Captain Corcoran is determined to see his daughter married to a cabinet minister, but she loves Ralph, a common sailor. Will the dastardly Dick Deadeye succeed in foiling the lovers’ plans? Featuring well-known songs including ‘When I was a Lad’, ‘Fair Moon, to Thee I Sing’, and ‘We Sail the Ocean Blue’. Find out more at https://linktr.ee/ALGSS
At the Millennium Garden, Fridays and Saturdays 10am-2pm from 31st May
Staffed by representatives of participating groups as well as festival organisers, the info base is the place to enquire about events and how to buy tickets for them. Tickets for some events can be purchased at the base, some are free, some we can direct you to the event organisers to buy.
We can also tell you more about the festival and how you or your group can get involved in future festivals.
If your group has an event in the 2024 festival, we are calling for volunteers to take a turn staffing the gazebo for a couple of hours on the dates above until the 6th July. Please contact us at admin@abbotslangleyfest.org.uk or leave a message on 01923 444619.
